I have been delighted with the response of our children to our initiative to support ‘The Clock Tower Sanctuary’ and I am very grateful to the many parents whose support enabled us to send a large assortment of donations. These will be distributed to those who are most in need over Christmas. Earlier in the week, a delegation of our pupils visited the offices of The Sanctuary. They were described thus by those from the charity who welcomed them: ‘Your pupils were total stars. Not only was their behaviour exemplary but they were bright eyed and really engaged with the visit. In short, they were a real joy’.

Our Schola Cantorum visited Barford Court Care Home on Tuesday morning. Again they were very warmly received and brought great pleasure by giving.

Of course all children should be excited by the approach of Christmas but it pleases me enormously that ours are so generous in giving. Christmas is also a time which brings families, friends and communities together and I enjoyed seeing some of you at the outstandingly haunting Year 5 production of a version of ‘A Christmas Carol’ last night. Like all of our year group plays it was a lovely family occasion. I hope that I will also see a large number of you at our Advent Carols this evening.
