Year 1 have been practising their spellings in all kinds of ways this week.

A dance workshop with a West End star, drama rehearsals aplenty, choir rehearsals for the Fauré Requiem this Saturday, mathematical challenges, some splendid sporting performances reflecting the excellent progress made by our netball and rugby teams, visits to Herstmonceux Science Observatory and to Preston Manor – such has been the week that has passed at St Christopher’s.

I am very grateful to the many parents who support the school on the touch line, at concerts, at productions and to the dedicated teachers who go that extra mile to organise a co-curricular programme for the children which is so rich. I look forward to seeing many of you at All Saints on Saturday evening, at the Year 4 and 5 production of Disney through the Ages, and at the parents’ workshop on ‘Nourishing the Exam Brain’ led by Mrs Newby on Tuesday afternoon.

This week I have thoroughly enjoyed individual meetings with our Year 8 pupils to discuss revision in the light of their Mock Examination results. I could not have been more impressed by their maturity, their thoughtful reflection and their ambition. As they prepare for their final term at St Christopher’s I was reassured that they will join their senior schools with the foundations in place to become really independent, reflective learners.
