Sophia, Head of School for Summer Term, spoke in this morning’s Assembly about the lessons we can learn about life from playing sport.

On Friday afternoon every boy and every girl in the Prep School was out on the games field, playing the same sport, surely a first for St Christopher’s and perhaps for any school. The girls are very excited about their cricket this term and I am sure this will remain the case though, as with anything which is a big departure from tradition, we will monitor it carefully. I raise my hat to the Head of Girls’ Games and her department for organising such a good venue at Henfield for the girls to play cricket. I am also delighted that the weather has been shining on our early season practice.

The children have quickly settled to the rhythms and routines of term time and seem very pleased to be back at school. The Lent Term always starts with lessons from the word go, as should be the case, but there has already been a Year 1 musical adventure on the seafront, which some of our younger pupils thoroughly enjoyed despite the rain, and an exciting trip to the Globe Theatre for 8H.

I would like to draw your attention to two recent publications. You should have received a copy of the Summer Term Calendar. Miss Lowe has asked me to inform you that there is an error in the listing for Friday May 24th; Year 7 Parents’ Evening and Pre-Prep Consultations are not taking place on this date.

I look forward to seeing the parents of Year 8 pupils this evening and to seeing some of you at the Brighton Marathon on Sunday.
