As the term gathers momentum, excitement begins to build amongst the pupils about the Autumn Fair,‘The Great ChristoFAIR’, which takes place on Saturday 21st September. I know that members of the Parents’ Association have already done a great deal of work and that all is beginning to take shape for the day. They do still need some help for the ‘Delights of the World’ food offering. Please do contact the PA if you feel you can help. I would be grateful if you would also remind your children that they can bring in filled jars from Monday, start sorting books and toys and games which they no longer use to bring in next week, and pop ‘a bottle of something’ on the shopping list to bring in next Friday for Own Clothes Day. I would like to thank many parents who have donated generously to the Silent Auction, the proceeds of which will go to the children’s charity, Fun in Action.
On Wednesday afternoon I was at Brighton College’s Jubilee Ground, in charge of the 3rd IX Football Team who were playing in a small tournament against BCPS and Westbourne House. At the same venue every single boy in Year 7 and 8 was playing football for his school. Indeed, almost every girl and boy in the school from Year 3 to Year 8 has now played a match for St Christopher’s. Not all have won, though there have been some terrific results, especially in tournaments. What pleases me most, however, is that so many boys and girls have enjoyed competitive sport.
I expect many of you who are local to our school will visit the Westbourne Street Festival tomorrow. For the fourth year in a row, we are lending them our lunch tables and benches for the Children’s Tea Party. I am delighted that St Christopher’s is very much a part of our local community.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to remind parents of Middle and Upper School children that collection between 4:15pm and 4:30pm should be from the New Church Road gate and not the Westbourne Gardens entrance.
I look forward to seeing you at The Great StChristoFAIR next weekend.
