We break for Half Term on a high! The Academic Scholarship Exam results are in, and they are excellent. One third of grades were A* and A, which is impressive in these challenging papers. As a result Aarav C, Harry G, Henry H, Anthony I, Jack K, Saskia L, and Huxley L have been awarded Academic Scholarships to Brighton College and Hurstpierpoint College. This is over half of the Scholarship Class. We have just enough weeks left of term for Flag Days for them all! My congratulations to all who sat the Scholarship exams; your hard work clearly paid off given your impressive results. This brings our Scholarship total for the year to an impressive twelve.
It was lovely to see so many of you last Saturday at Glebe Villas for the Summer Fair. This event was a great success and is clearly a wonderful new addition to the school calendar. My thanks to all on the PA who worked so hard to make the day a success.
Last night’s Summer Concert saw the widest range of performers ever at a St Christopher’s concert, with over half the school performing, including Reception. Our Back Court is a lovely venue for outdoor events, and it seems incredible that we are only a few weeks away from another Leavers’ Assembly, marking the end of another year.
Today, of course, was House Celebration Day with the children finding lots of creative ways to dress in their House Colours. The House Quiz for Middle and Upper School saw some tricky St C’s trivia questions. The day concluded with the hugely popular Silent Disco, with thanks to our Parents’ Association. As well as all the fun, it was a day to raise funds for and awareness of our four House charities.
Looking ahead to after Half Term, the first day back is the Enterprise Challenge Day, where the members of Year 8 create games and stalls for the younger children, with money raised going to two more charities. Trips Week then begins, with Year 7 off to France and Years 5 and 6 enjoying their own shorter residential trips. The Leavers’ Trip to Dorset sets off immediately after the Common Entrance exams are over, and then we head on towards Sports Days and the Upper School play at The Barn Theatre, Southwick.
With so much planned for the coming weeks, I suggest everyone has as good a rest as possible over Half Term!
