Introducing Miss Standen

We’re excited to share that our brilliant Year 4 teacher, Miss Standen, will be stepping into a new role as Head of PE from September. With her passion for sport and inspiring energy, we know she’ll lead our PE programme with creativity, enthusiasm, and a strong team spirit!

In-between planning for next term, marking books and organising Year 4 trips, she answered a few questions for us…

  1. What do you love most about teaching?

Every day being different and the amazing children that make it worth it. The laughs, smiles, happy faces make it worth it!

  2. If I wasn’t a teacher I am pretty sure I would be….

Travelling the world. This year I have travelled, Japan, China and Rome and hopefully going to Sri Lanka at Christmas! My favourite destination being Koh Tao in Thailand!

  3. What are you looking forward to in your role?

I’m really looking forward to inspiring a love of sport across the whole school. It’s such a great opportunity to help pupils build confidence, develop teamwork skills, and most importantly, have fun being active! I’m excited to bring fresh ideas to our PE programme and celebrate every success, whether big or small.

  4. What was your favourite book as a child?

    Laura’s Star by Klaus Baumgart
It was such a magical story that stayed with me. I loved the idea of finding something special that brings comfort and a sense of wonder. It’s one of those books that makes you believe in little everyday miracles.

  5. What is one of your favourite quotes?

Everything happens for a reason and what is meant to be will be. There is no rainbow without rain!

  6. If you had a superpower what would it be?

Flying. I’d love the freedom of soaring through the sky, travelling anywhere in the world without traffic, and seeing everything from a new perspective. It would definitely make playground duty more exciting too.

  7. What did you want to be when you were 5?

    When I was 5, I was pretty sure I’d be – A crocodile… I’m still hoping this will happen one day 🙂

  8. What advice would you give someone who wants to join our team?

Laugh lots, smile often and don’t be afraid to be yourself. Get involved and enjoy the journey. You’ll feel part of the community in no time!
