Welcome to our Meet the Team series, where we introduce you to the talented people who make St Christopher’s Prep what it is today.
We asked Mr Collins, our new Head of Sport (and a familiar face after three years as one of our sports coaches) to chat about his role, his passion for sport, and give us some more insights about his life!
Let’s dive in…
-
How long have you worked at St Christopher’s Prep?
I’ve been part of the team for 3 years as one of the sports coaches.
-
What are you most looking forward to in your new role as Head of Sport?
I’m most looking forward to creating an environment that enthuses and challenges every child to be the best version of themselves and a culture where every sport session is seen as a fun experience that everyone looks forward to!
-
What was your favourite book as a child?
It would have to be the Horrible Histories books; it was the first series of books I discovered with a level of humour in them, making me want to read more!
-
If you were a superhero, what would your superpower be… and why?
Teleportation – I would love to be able to travel more and would do so if it wasn’t for the time and expense of it!
-
When I was 5, I wanted to be a …… ?
Footballer – my love for sport came from a young age!
-
What is the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
“If you give your all, you can have no regrets!” We can often look back on things with a what if attitude, try your hardest at everything you do and you can never be disappointed that you could have done it better.
-
What do you like most about working at St Christopher’s?
I enjoy the family feel and culture that have been developed to create a great working environment, but the best thing has to be working with an incredibly talented, hard-working group of colleagues!
-
What is your favourite holiday destination?
Rome or Naples, the combination of Italian food, culture, historical places, weather and passion for sport was all a yes from me!
-
What do you like to do in your spare time?
In case you haven’t worked out yet… if I’m not playing sport, I’m probably watching it, whether at a match or on the TV; sport is never far away in my life. Beyond sport, though, I am a massive foodie, which extends to having a passion for cooking, and I also have a keen interest in attending live music.
