We’re excited to introduce Miss Smart as one of our Reception teachers this September! 🌟
She’s passionate about creating a nurturing, playful, and engaging environment where our youngest learners can thrive. From imaginative play to early literacy adventures, she’s ready to make every moment count in the classroom.
Let’s get to know her a little better…
-
What do you love most about teaching?
One of the most rewarding parts of my job is seeing that spark of pride in a child’s eyes when they realise they’ve made progress, whether it’s writing their name for the first time, solving a tricky problem, or building confidence in themselves. Watching those lightbulb moments and knowing I’ve played a small part in their journey is incredibly special.

If I wasn’t a teacher I am pretty sure I would be….
I’d be an explorer! I’ve always had a passion for discovering new places, experiencing different cultures, and stepping outside my comfort zone. Travelling keeps me curious and open-minded, just like teaching.
-
What was your favourite book as a child?
5 minutes Peace by Jill Murphy because I liked the elephants jumping in the bath with all their clothes on!
-
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Speak to yourself the way you’d speak to your friends. It’s a simple reminder to practice kindness, patience, and compassion with ourselves… something we all need from time to time!
-
If you had a superpower what would it be?
I’d love to fly! Just imagine the freedom of soaring through the skies, skipping traffic, and seeing the world from above. It’d be the ultimate adventure!
-
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I like to keep things varied — whether it’s going for a run, planning my next travel adventure, getting competitive over a board game, diving into a good book, or letting off steam with a boxing session. Balance is key!
-
Where in the world is your favourite holiday destination?
India, without a doubt. The food, the colours, the history, and the people — it’s a place that stays with you long after you’ve left.
-
What did you want to be when you were 5?
An actress! While the stage may have been swapped for the classroom, I like to think that the passion for creativity, storytelling and expression still shines through in my teaching today.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself..
I hiked with Gorillas in Uganda and I was carried up a tree by a monkey when I was 2 years old in Borneo! I had a backpack full of snacks I didn’t want to give up!
