Sport

Sport at St Christopher's centres on healthy competition, participation at all levels and, most importantly, enjoyment. The school is committed to offering positive and inclusive sports sessions for all children as well as achieving excellence at the top level. All pupils gain an opportunity to represent the school and we aim to have as many teams as possible from Years 3-8 playing on a fixture day. Teamwork is a key element in our approach and this is reflected in a strong team spirit when our boys and girls play other schools. The importance of good sportsmanship is stressed at all levels. Our A teams are selected on skill and ability to challenge our best sporting children and our B teams are rotated so every child gets the chance to represent the school in a match.

Our boys' teams experience success at every level and recent achievements include winning the Ardingly, Bedes, Brambletye, Handcross Park, Shoreham College and Westbourne House Football Tournaments and the Ashdown House and Brighton College Rugby Sevens Tournaments. The boys also reached the U13 IAPS National Football Finals in 2016, finishing in the top 6 IAPS prep schools in the country.

Our girls are successful at netball, rounders and hockey at all levels, and were U13 National Champions in the IAPS Netball Tournament in 2015. Many of our top sportsmen and sportswomen achieve sports scholarships to Brighton College, Hurstpierpoint College, Lancing College, Bedes and Ardingly. The school has a very successful tradition of winning sports' scholarships in Year 8.

In the winter, our boys play football followed by rugby at Glebe Villas (our home ground) whilst our girls play hockey and netball. Cricket and rounders follow in the summer alongside athletics.

Pre Prep pupils play football, tag rugby, netball, uni-hoc, cricket, rounders and athletics at Glebe Villas in addition to their weekly PE lesson.

Sports awards are available for entry into Year 7.
