Our Community

St Christopher’s holds a central location in the heart of Hove, well situated for easy access to some of the best sporting facilities, theatres and venues in the city. The school makes the most of its location and is proud of its strong links within the community.  The school raises significant amounts of money for local charities through sponsored events, with each school house supporting a locally-based charity. We are very much a local school, grounded in the local community.

We place a great level of importance in the care of our school community. We have a buddy system which allows our younger pupils to feel supported and nurtured within the school, helping to build their confidence from the minute they start school with us. Reception pupils have a Year 8 buddy, Year 1 children are matched with our Year 7 pupils. The older pupils enjoy the responsibility as much as the younger ones enjoy their company.

We enjoy seeing our pupils connect with the local environment through ‘Wild Beach’ and ‘Forest School’, building their knowledge of the eco-systems that live in their environment. Learning outdoors greatly enhances their wellbeing and they return to school refreshed and energised.

"Pupils have a particularly strong sense of community. They perform their roles of responsibility conscientiously."
