The Head’s reflections on the week

Posted: 9th May 2025

I am counting down the days to our first Summer Fair at Glebe Villas, the second of our forthcoming Saturday events. It goes without saying that putting on an event like this takes a huge amount of effort and months of planning, and I am going to focus this week on our wonderful and ever supportive Parents’ Association, who are working so hard at present and are testament to the phrase that team work really does make the dream work.

So many parents attended the planning meeting for the Summer Fair a few weeks ago that a steady stream of extra chairs was needed in the Library to fit everyone in. Everyone involved knew that making this event happen would involve a good deal of their time and effort, but everyone was willing to get on board and tackle all the necessary tasks. Every day this week has seen updates on what will happen on the day.

The Parents’ Association do so much to support the life of our school, funding items and events that our whole community benefits from. We are very excited about the return of the Silent Disco just before Half Term, for example, and the new Canon SLR camera they purchased at the start of this term is already being put to great use for pictures for this very Newsletter. Last Friday saw the latest of the PA’s much appreciated Pre-Loved Uniform Sales on the front playground, and one of the aims of the Summer Fair is the refurbishment of our much loved School Library, to make it an even more fun place to spend time.

Finally, I hope to see as many of you as possible tomorrow at our Artists Open House event from 12pm to 3pm, where work by every single child in our school will be on display. It should be a great event, and is of course open to our local community to come and get a glimpse of life at St Christopher’s.
