I am overjoyed to report that St Christopher’s brought home the Brighton College Junior Leonardo Competition Trophy yesterday! Drake Badgers came 1st across the sixteen Houses of the Brighton College Prep Schools, scoring highly for the quality of their entries, and the engagement rate across the House. Anson Lions, who won the inaugural Junior Leonardo in 2024, came 2nd. Nelson Dragons placed a respectable 4th, and Howe Dolphins were a notable 6th. We were the only school with all four Houses in the top half of the table.
Individually, St Christopher’s pupils came equal 1st in two of the five categories, and 2nd in three more. My congratulations to Sienna in the Film category, and the trio of Ciara, Mae, and Neev for Music. Izzy won 2nd for Music, Hattie for Creative Writing, and Maya, Huddy, and Leon were joint 2nd for Art. Maya was also awarded the Mitchell Prize for the most creative entry across the entire competition, which makes the second year in a row that St Christopher’s has won this award. I would also like to take this opportunity to give heartfelt and special thanks to Mr Holt for his behind the scenes work on this competition and marvellous prize giving event.
Beyond those who won prizes yesterday, I am so proud of everyone who entered, and every entry will receive a Commendation in a special Leonardo Assembly in Week 3, along with feedback from the Judges on their entry. Those who didn’t make it to the Prize Giving this year are very much encouraged to try again next year, upping their game. Yes, I’m going to mention the growth mindset again! What went well this year? But what can I do better next time round?
It was wonderful to see such an outpouring of creativity from our children. St Christopher’s is a school which nurtures every child to pursue and challenge themselves in the things that they enjoy and excel at, and the Leonardo Competition is a perfect example of that.
